Leanore R. (Kelley) Earnest

Leanore R. Earnest, 100, of New Paris, passed away on May 8, 2023 at UPMC Altoona.

Leanore became a centenarian on her birthday- April 21, 2023. She was sure this would get her in the Guinness Book of World Records. She was a friend and listening ear to all, loved her family dearly and had a strong faith. Lawn mowing and baking (especially her famous chocolate chip cookies) were among her happy hobbies. Her favorite pastime was watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds.

She was born on April 21, 1923, daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Lehman) Kelly. She married Dale Earnest on June 12, 1943. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2003. They were married for 60 years.

She is survived by daughter- Sandra wife of John Herman, of New Paris; son- Dennis husband of Vieva (Douglas), of Rutledge, TN.; and daughter- LouAnn widow of RP Moore, of Bedford. Also grandchildren- Deirdre Herman married to Yuan-Ping Pang, Jonathan Herman husband of Amy (Seibert), Dan Herman husband of Beth (Layman); Erica wife of Mark Dutton; Justin Earnest husband of Melinda (Chadwell); Travis Fleegle husband of Connie (Roach), Todd Fleegle fiancé of Allison McClain; Kristy wife of Curtis Harr; Michelle (Moore) wife of Joe Kovel, and Robert (Beau) Moore husband of Rhonda (Minor). She was blessed with the following great-grandchildren- Kaitlyn, Audrey, Leah, Joe, Makenna and Mary Herman; Zoe and Zane Keil; Emily (Dutton) married to Xavier Garcia, and Jared Dutton; Jordan Fleegle fiancé of Tyler Mizack, Madison Fleegle fiancé of Jacob Crist, Mitchell, Ashley Kovel, Robert and Jonathan Moore. Plus, two precious great-great granddaughters, Paisley and Scarlett. Leanore was preceded in death by infant grandson, brother Harold, sister Twila Naugle and great-granddaughter Bella.

She was a longtime member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church and affiliated with the New Paris United Methodist Church.

Loving thanks go to all her family, neighbors, and friends who took the time to look out for her and help her since she was known for her independent spirit.

A visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 from 4-6 PM at Mickle Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg.

A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 10-11 AM at Mickle Geisel Funeral Home

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11 AM at Mickle Geisel Funeral Home with Michelle Kovel officiating.

Interment will be at Fishertown Cemetery, Fishertown, PA.
