Richard D. Mortimore, 80 years old, packed up his bags and moved to his heavenly home after long extended illness and short battle with cancer.

He was born April 22, 1940, in Wolfsburg, to the late Robert James Mortimore and Helen (Clites) Mortimore.

He was united in marriage to Sylvia A. (Garland) Mortimore and celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Along with his wife, he is survived by children: R. Scott Mortimore of Manns Choice; Christine Fye and fiancé, John Barker, of Etters; and Tricia Kelley, spouse of John Kelley, of Manns Choice; grandchildren: Amanda, Alicia, Skylar and Trent; along with great-grandchildren: Aria, Gatlin, Lucas and one on the way.

Richard was preceded in death by infant brother, Lawerance;  sister, Madaline; and brothers, Jim and Tom.

He was a 1958 graduate of Bedford High School. Richard served in the U.S. Navy aboard USS Essex (CVS-9) for four years and four months, extended for Vietnam Crises 1962-1966.
