Steven H. Diehl "Muggsie"

December 14, 1948 — August 28, 2021

Friends Cove, Bedford County, PA

Steven Howard Diehl (Muggsie) 72, owner of Contract Painting and a lifelong resident of Friends Cove, PA, died at UMPC Hospital of Pittsburgh on August 28, 2021, after a battle with COVID related pneumonia, despite being fully vaccinated.

Steve was born in Bedford, PA, on December 14 1948, to Mary E Diehl (Schaffer) and the late Bernard Diehl.  Steve graduated from Bedford High School in 1966, and later attended Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland, Maryland.  Steve worked the majority of his career in his family’s steel building construction business.  Later, Steve built his own residential and commercial painting business, which also included parking lot line striping and paint sprayer repair.  He met the love of his life, Joy Winters Diehl, after helping to repair her car.  The two later dated, and married on October 20, 1983.

Steve never met a broken object that he could not fix.  His friends and family members were often the beneficiaries of his ability to repair and re-build broken items.  He worked tirelessly to support those around him who needed help in repairing everything from cars and appliances to electronics and more.  When he was younger, he enjoyed riding ATV’s and Snowmobiles through the Pennsylvania Mountains, with this dear friends.  Steve adored his grandchildren and great grandchild, who were his pride and joy.  He would often be found playing, wrestling, and building with them, or teaching them how to finish and paint dry-wall.  When Steve was not working or tinkering, he could be found in his garage, working on his cherished antique truck.

Steve is survived by his mother, Mary E. Boore, of Martinsburg, PA.  His, loving wife Joy Winters Diehl, of Charleville, PA, two loving step-children, Kristy Livengood Youngblood, of Waynesboro, PA, wife of Brad Livengood, and Jason Youngblood, husband of Jennifer Spokus Youngblood, who reside in Lutherville, Maryland.  Steve is also survived by four adoring grandchildren, Brad Scott Livengood, married to Dr. Rachel Couch Livengood of Myrtle Beach, SC, Cory Steven Livengood, of Waynesboro, PA, Isabella Joy Youngblood, and Alexandra Genevieve Youngblood, of Lutherville Maryland, and one great grandchild, Camren Livengood.  Steve is also survived by his siblings, Maron Diehl, Larry Diehl, Sherrie White, and Pamela Miller, and several cherished nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Diehl, infant sister, Margaret Diehl, as well as his step-father, William Boore.
