Susan R. (Smith) Johnston

Susan R. Johnston, 75, of Barclay Street, Bedford formerly of Falls Church, VA and Fairhope, PA died Saturday, June 13, 2020 at In Touch Hospice, Somerset County, PA.

Mrs. Johnston was born in Washington D.C., on February 1, 1945,  daughter of the late Charles E. and Helen (Faupel) Smith.

On May 1, 1971 Susan married  Daniel C. Johnston. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2006.

Susan was a 1963 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland and a 1966 graduate of Washington D.C. School of Secretaries.

She was a  Legal Secretary at multiple Law Firms in Washington D.C. area and Somerset County.

She is survived by  Son- Matthew J. husband of  Connie Johnston, New Baltimore; Daughter- Cara wife of  Bradley Kister, Fairhope; Grandchildren Layne, Peyton, Taylor, Collin and Logan; Sister- Leah wife of  Raphael Gomez, Alexandria, VA; Sister-in-law- Betsy Smith, Jacksonville, FL; 2 Nephews Darrell husband of Anna and Kevin husband of Maggie.  Along with her husband Susan was preceded in death by Brother- David Smith.

Susan enjoyed antiquing, gardening and spending time with her grandkids, cooking, going to auctions and crab feasts. She also was an avid glass collector and enjoyed watching Notre Dame Football games on Saturdays. She enjoyed all the simple things in life.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Baltimore.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg where a Vigil for the deceased will be held.

A Funeral Mass will be held  at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Baltimore at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 17, 2020  with Father Mark Pattock- Celebrant.

Interment at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore.
